A reminder that the Borderland Judo 2nd Annual Shiai will take place on Saturday, February 25th. The tournament site will be held at the Couchiching Multi-Use Facility on 201 Frog Creek Road, Couchiching First Nation (just outside of Fort Frances). Please let one of the senseis know if you're interested in competing!

Congratulations to Avi and Ameer who both competed at Winnipeg's Inner City Open and brought home medals! Avi competed in the U16 -66 kg cateogory and earned a bronze medal, and Ameer competed in the U14 -46 kg category and earned a gold medal. Special thanks to sensei Todd who coached, and to sensei Pat for her support to the team. Congratulations boys!

Starting this week, seniors classes on Wednesdays will be extended by 30 minutes, so the new Wednesday schedule is 6:30-8:30. This won't affect the Monday schedule.
Also, the open-mat practices on weekends have moved to Sundays at 12:00-2:00.

Thank you to everyone who participated and who helped run the tournament very smoothly! Congratulations to our athletes who fought hard and placed on the podium: Ameer (gold), Patrick (bronze), Nicholas (bronze), Avi (silver and gold), Carolyn (silver), Elizabeth (silver), Vivian (bronze), sensei Todd (gold), and sensei Ryan (two silvers).
Congratulations also to Dillon, Wyatt, and Zakkari who showed great effort and techniques in the Fair Play Division earning them a medal for their participation!
The clinic was a great success too, with lots of exchanges of ideas and tips for future black-belt grading. Again, thank you all!

Please note that the clinic on Sunday the 27th will also take place at the tournament site. That's at the Pope John Paul II Senior Elementary School on Franklin Street. Hope to see you there!
